At our Vancouver Kerrisdale clinic, sclerotherapy offers a minimally invasive and highly effective solution for varicose and spider veins. The treatment involves injecting a safe solution into the affected veins, prompting them to close and be reabsorbed by the body. This method not only enhances the appearance of your skin but also improves overall circulation.

Our specialists provide comprehensive consultations to assess your needs and tailor a personalized treatment plan. Compression stockings are advised for a week post-procedure, allowing you to enjoy smoother skin and restored confidence with minimal downtime.

Proven Results

At Dermapure, our team of experienced physicians is dedicated to providing world-class care and expertise in aesthetic medicine. Focusing on enhancing natural beauty, we prioritize treatments that deliver subtle yet impactful results tailored to each individual’s unique needs.

While sclerotherapy can significantly improve varicose vein concerns, it’s important to note that outcomes can vary depending on the patient. All images shown are for reference only and do not guarantee specific results.

What to expect

During your consultation, ultrasound is used to map the veins and discover the source of pressure causing the varicose veins. Often the source of the spider or varicose veins are too deep to see with the naked eye. This consultation stage allows for the development of a safe, accurate and effective treatment plan for lasting results. As with any medical consultation, current fees apply.

Before and after photos are an important step in the treatment process, as it allows for visualization of the evolution of your results over time.

Lasting 20 minutes, sclerotherapy treatment may give rise to a slight tingling or a feeling of heat during the session. This sensation disappears quickly after treatment. As the treatment involves injection into the veins, naturally some bruising should be anticipated. Bruising due to any cause on the legs generally resolves over 3 weeks, and patients should refrain from unprotected sun exposure until the bruises clear.

Reviews

I was blown away by the service and treatment at Dermapure. As a newbie, I was not sure what to expect, but the staff were all so kind and knowledgeable and made me feel very comfortable, safe, and cared for every step of the way. I highly recommend Dermapure for your skincare/treatment needs. Thank you so much, Ronda, Kim, and Dr. Lo!

I’ve been going to Dermapure for some months now and they’re always super nice but most importantly they listen to your concerns and respond to them with customed treatment and great explanations of how everything will work. Special shout out to Dr. Angela Law and Aoife, who made me feel understood and safe :)

Frequently asked questions

Sclerotherapy is a non-invasive procedure for treating varicose and spider veins by injecting a saline or chemical solution into affected veins, causing them to collapse and absorb into the body. Blood naturally reroutes to healthier veins, improving circulation and reducing the appearance of varicose veins.

Sclerotherapy is the "gold standard" for treating visible diseased veins due to its effectiveness, safety, and minimally invasive nature. It's versatile, suitable for various vein sizes, and involves minimal discomfort. Additionally, sclerotherapy typically yields long-lasting results, improving cosmetic appearance and symptoms associated with varicose veins. Compared to surgical interventions, sclerotherapy has a lower risk of complications and requires little to no downtime.

Sclerotherapy is effective for treating a variety of veins, including varicose and spider veins. Varicose veins are more prominent, bulging veins often found on the legs, ankles, and feet, while spider veins are smaller, web-like veins closer to the skin's surface. The procedure directly targets these veins, causing them to collapse and eventually fade.

Compression stockings help promote blood flow and prevent blood from pooling in the treated veins, aiding the healing process and reducing the risk of complications. Compression stockings can also help minimize swelling, bruising, and discomfort following the procedure. They support the treated veins, helping them stay collapsed and facilitating the recovery process.

During the initial appointment, the specialist uses ultrasound mapping. This technology allows them to visualize the veins beneath the skin's surface, even those too deep to see with the naked eye. By pinpointing the location and severity of the veins, the specialist can tailor the treatment plan to address the patient's specific needs.
