Sclerotherapy is a non-invasive procedure that involves injecting saline or chemical solution into the varicose veins. This causes the vein to close or collapse and the vein is eventually broken down and discarded by the body. The blood then circulates only in the other, non-varicose veins. It remains the “gold standard” in treatment of visible diseased veins. This method is effective for treatment of spider veins and well as larger, distended veins. In most cases, regular activity may be resumed immediately, although it is recommended to wear compression stockings for 1 week after each treatment.
Before beginning any sclerotherapy treatment, an appointment with one of our specialists* is required. This initial meeting will allow them to precisely identify the veins to be treated and to establish a safe and effective treatment plan for long-term results.
*Please note that, as with any medical consultation, fees for this appointment apply.

While sclerotherapy can significantly improve varicose vein concerns, it’s important to note that outcomes can vary depending on the patient. All images shown are for reference only and do not guarantee specific results.
During your consultation, ultrasound is used to map the veins and discover the source of pressure causing the varicose veins. Often the source of the spider or varicose veins are too deep to see with the naked eye. This consultation stage allows for the development of a safe, accurate and effective treatment plan for lasting results. As with any medical consultation, current fees apply.
Before and after photos are an important step in the treatment process, as it allows for visualization of the evolution of your results over time.
Lasting 20 minutes, sclerotherapy treatment may give rise to a slight tingling or a feeling of heat during the session. This sensation disappears quickly after treatment. As the treatment involves injection into the veins, naturally some bruising should be anticipated. Bruising due to any cause on the legs generally resolves over 3 weeks, and patients should refrain from unprotected sun exposure until the bruises clear.
Starting at $200
*Consultation fee with a physician may apply.
At your initial consultation, the physician will determine how many treatments are required per leg. The number of sclerotherapy treatments necessary depends on the extent of the vein disease and we are limited to the quantity of medication per visit. Closure of the affected veins can be visible within several days however treated veins tend to fade within a few weeks to several months. Support stockings are recommended to promote healthy circulation in the lower limbs and prevent and minimize recurrence. Patients can return to most usual activities post treatment.
Sclerotherapy is contraindicated in pregnant and breastfeeding women as well as a known allergy to the sclerotic agent used. Special consideration is required in people with medical conditions that make them more vulnerable such as hypercoagulability (blood clotting), a history of a deep venous thrombosis or pulmonary embolism.
Varicose veins on the legs, ankles and feet can be treated with sclerotherapy.

Visit The Online StoreSclerotherapy is a non-invasive procedure for treating varicose and spider veins by injecting a saline or chemical solution into affected veins, causing them to collapse and absorb into the body. Blood naturally reroutes to healthier veins, improving circulation and reducing the appearance of varicose veins.
Sclerotherapy is the "gold standard" for treating visible diseased veins due to its effectiveness, safety, and minimally invasive nature. It's versatile, suitable for various vein sizes, and involves minimal discomfort. Additionally, sclerotherapy typically yields long-lasting results, improving cosmetic appearance and symptoms associated with varicose veins. Compared to surgical interventions, sclerotherapy has a lower risk of complications and requires little to no downtime.
Sclerotherapy is effective for treating a variety of veins, including varicose and spider veins. Varicose veins are more prominent, bulging veins often found on the legs, ankles, and feet, while spider veins are smaller, web-like veins closer to the skin's surface. The procedure directly targets these veins, causing them to collapse and eventually fade.
Compression stockings help promote blood flow and prevent blood from pooling in the treated veins, aiding the healing process and reducing the risk of complications. Compression stockings can also help minimize swelling, bruising, and discomfort following the procedure. They support the treated veins, helping them stay collapsed and facilitating the recovery process.
During the initial appointment, the specialist uses ultrasound mapping. This technology allows them to visualize the veins beneath the skin's surface, even those too deep to see with the naked eye. By pinpointing the location and severity of the veins, the specialist can tailor the treatment plan to address the patient's specific needs.
